Love for Manila Bay

It's April 28 here in the Philippines and man is it hot. I hate being alone in warm days coz I think of a lot of weird stuff like dreaming of becoming an astrophysicist  to harness the sun's energy and use it to create a massive air conditioning system for the whole world for the human race to enjoy... something like that. But then this time I thought of something else.
It's summer time again and every damn resort and/or beach is jam-packed with people and I don't want a piece of that shit. I just want a cool relaxing place that doesn't have to be far from home, like a drive away or something. And then it came to my mind. MANILA BAY. Yup, you've read it right, MANILA BAY. I want so swim in Manila Bay or walk along its shore line or just sit on the sand. Well of course that's not possible right now coz I'd definitely die. So what am I getting at?

Well, for starters I want to turn this......
Manila Bay

Still Manila Bay

Yeah... still Manila Bay...

Right.. you've guessed it...

...........back to this:

I think this photo's too famous. I'm not sure but they claim that this WAS Manila Bay back then..

....and eventually into something like this:
I think this one's Long Beach, California (photo by Vagabonde: http://www.blogger.com/profile/10774109692564954568)

Bay at San Sebastian, Spain

Ok. I know this is definitely going to be a long-shot if not impossible but hey. It's worth a try. I mean we've all been doing causes for Pasig River, for the EARTH, or for some other environmental cause like those trees in Baguio... We run, we hold concerts, bazaars, hell we even PARTY FOR A CAUSE (what's up with that?) but nevertheless if we try to get together for our Manila Bay, I think we'll get back a few titles our country has lost along the way.... of probably LOSE THE BAD TITLES we've received along the way...
I'm not saying we stop all the other causes, but that's kind of like what I really mean. So how the hell are we going to do this? Well, I truly say to you my friends that I have NO CAPACITY to start this project because I don't really like spear-heading programs so, I think that if there's anybody out there who has the same passion as I do, call me up and we'll work together. And from there we'll start. As for the other stuff, I think what we can do is that for EVERY program that we do for a cause, let's try to allocate let's say about 20% of the funds we'll accumulate for Manila Bay and I don't know maybe cooperate with some environment junkie or something. Sorry. Hahaha. I'm just really trying to finish everything. Hahaha. So yeah.. that's pretty much what I have in mind..

QUESTION: Well about that separating our trash? Recycling? And all that stuff? What about that?

ANSWER: Yeah of course! Anything even the tiniest form of recycling is good but A LOT of people don't really care for that shit you know. I mean come on... We're not in America. Households can't afford 3 trash bins here. And some don't even know where to put what. Sometimes it just messes things up like when you're not sure where to put it, then just put it in NON-BIODEGRADABLE fuck cares what happens to that right? That's what PEOPLE DO! Well, sometimes that's what I do.... So, if you can REALLY recycle, separate trash or whatever, then by all means! I think it helps. At least I think it does.

So there you have it. Love for Manila Bay. I don't really care or mind whether this message gets to some rich philanthropist or something but I hope it will touch the hearts of those whosoever reads this.

Finally, I just want to remind you guys that if there's anyone there who has a plan for Manila Bay or who needs a volunteer or something, just try to reach me and I'll do my best.

People of the Philippines v. President of the Philippines: On why we have a never ending battle against our leaders

Now I may not be a political analyst or a statistician or anything but I think the plausible reason why we are at chaos AGAIN is because we don't limit out presidential candidates.. Well correct me if I'm wrong.. But nevertheless, we have 10 presidential candidates! Summing up these votes, only about 35million Filipinos voted for a presidential candidate which is only about 38% of our population; and out of this 35million, our current lovable president (sarcasm supplied or whatever; I'm not against the President anyway) received around 13.5 million votes which is again only about 38% of those who voted (I'm using 90million population by the way). And for knockout punch, 13.5Million votes is a whopping 15% percent of the population.

Thus, we have 85% of the population getting pissed with everything the winner is doing because THEY DIDN'T VOTE FOR HIM. Well, I'm not generalizing here. I'm just saying these things as it is. I'm not jumping to conclusions either. I don't mind people having their own grudges against Mr. President here.

So let's get back to the facts shall we? So what I can deduce from here is that on one hand we have 21.5Million voters who would probably be very condescending against Mr. 13.5Million votes right here because, well their bet didn't win... And then on the other hand we have 55million Filipinos who didn't vote for reasons beyond my comprehension yet they complain about what's happening. I just hope here that those people who didn't vote for reason of abstaining or just feeling empathetic about the whole election thing, aren't the ones who are clamoring about bad governance coz that just ain't making any sense. We can't blame those people who can't vote coz they don't have the resources...

So what am I getting here? Well, first off you might think is way beyond what I've been talking about but we should limit our presidential candidates to only 3 people or so.. Well I don't know... But we should really limit it. And this other idea might be very utopian but the winner MAY only be declared a winner if he gets about 20% more than the 1st runner up? Well, I know that's just stupid but it will ensure that we're not bordering on luck.

And then we go again to the I DON'T CARE ATTITUDE. We don't have to know everything about the DETAILS of what's happening.. I don't even think we even have to know about what's happening because regardless of your knowledge of the situation, it boils down to one question: DO YOU CARE? I mean, what's the sense of knowing whose SALN is legit or not if all you have in your mind is "Ah **ck you! All you did was get money and shit and ride a sports car or what" or "Ah **ck you! All you did was get money and shit and buy real estate properties or what." That's not the point! Coz what matters is why do you care? Do you care coz you hate the guy? Do you care coz you just wanna rant about the government's poor performance? If that's the case, well "we're going down swingin'" (Fall Out Boy, 2005).

See, you have to care! You have to have some kind of purposeful "conviction of the heart" (Kenny Loggins, 1991) or a genuine desire to free our nation from corruption, anomalies and all other things that are unjust.

Finally, let us not border on inadmissible evidences as what you all might probably been seeing in the broadcasts hence, let us have a fair and good judgement. If we want justice, I believe we should give justice as well.

Above all things, let us pray for our country and our people. For those who don't pray, well, let's hope, dream and care for our country and our people. Someday, our time will come and we'll be better than ever. Don't lose hope and let's all try to make our country worth living for.

The aural effect of the prestige of the Supreme Court

I've toured the Supreme Court awhile ago (February 15, 2012) and I felt astonished by the atmosphere of the EN BANC court. I've felt the prestige of being a Supreme Court Justice, let alone being THE Chief Justice.

While sitting there, I've felt the gravity of the responsibilities that encumber these justices; then I thought to myself, I pray that all the dark clouds that hover upon the court of last resort be cleared as soon as possible because there our country really is in need of a true COURT OF JUSTICE.

I may have not been able to religiously watch the trials of our incumbent Chief Justice but I will never lose hope in my country. I will continue to put to mind that one day, justice will be put back in its rightful place and our respect to the highest court of the land will be as high, or hopefully higher, than its name suggests.

I may not be a soldier. I may not be a policeman. I may not be a volunteer. I may not even become a lawyer but I know that in my heart, I have a pure desire to somehow, serve my country and give back what it has done for me.

As an average Filipino, it might not be enough to have the "will to serve your country" but it is a start which I hope will spark in the heart of every Filipino especially those who are given the authority to lead our nation.

And in the words of John F. Kennedy, "Ask not what your country can do for you - ASK WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR COUNTRY."
